Una stupefacente collezione di gioielli che raccontano la straordinaria storia d'amore tra Wallis Simpson e Re Edoardo VII°sarà battuta all'asta da Sotheby's.

A stunning collection of jewels that shed light on the extraordinary love affair between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII are to go on sale at Sotheby's.

 

Tra i pezzi messi all'asta il prossimo 12 dicembre, anche un orologio in argento che testimonia il dolore per la separazione forzata tra Wallis e il futuro marito nei mesi che ne precedettero l'abdicazione al trono.

Among the pieces to go under the hammer on the 12th December is a silver watch that tells of Simpson's heartbreak after being forced to separate from her future husband in the months leading up to his abdication.

L'asta include anche un meraviglioso bracciale in zaffiri realizzato da Cartier e stimato tra le 130.000 e le 180.000 sterline.

The return

Questo nuovo film, ideato scritto e realizzato da Karl Lagerfeld, sarà proiettato a Dallas il 10 Dicembre 2013, in apertura della sfilata Métiers d'Art 2013/14 dal titolo "Paris-Dallas", alle 18,30 ora locale e diffuso contemporaneamente su chanel.com.

It takes an out of the ordinary actor to interpret the role of Coco Chanel at the moment she takes the comeback of her career: reopening her couture house after 15 years of absence. Geraldine Chaplin incarnates the designer with accuracy and precision, to the point of expressing her most natural emotions.
The Return, the film imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, takes place in 1954, when Gabrielle Chanel creates - against all odds - a new collection that shakes up the codes of fashion and defines Chanel's style forever.

The Return will be revealed in Dallas, Texas, on December 10th, as an opening for the 2013/14 Métiers d'Art fashion show titled "Paris-Dallas" and it will be online on chanel.com on Dec. 10^th from 6.30 pm.

Faberge Museum St. Petesburg

FABERGE A SAN PIETROBURGO

Il primo museo russo privato dedicato al famoso gioielliere Carl Fabergé è stato inaugurato lo scorso 19 novembre a San Pietroburgo. In mostra opere della gioielleria russa del periodo tra la fine del XIX e gli inizi del XX secolo. 

The first in Russia private museum dedicated to the famous jeweler Carl Faberge has opened in St. Petersburg on Nov 19. Works of the Russian jewelry art of late XIX – early XX centuries are on show. 

Il fulcro della collezione è costituito da nove uova pasquali create da Carl Faberge e appartenute alla famiglia Romanov che sono considerate dalla critica la massima espressione dell'arte e dell'opera del mitico gioielliere.La collezione appartiene al magnate russo Viktor Vekselberg che l'ha acquistata nel 2004.

Nine Easter eggs made by Carl Faberge  previously owned by the tsarist Romanov family and considered to be the peak of the jeweler's work, are at the heart of the exposition.

 Il palazzo Shuvalovsky, che ospita il museo, è uno dei più fastosi e rappresentativi di San Pietroburgo; costruito nel 18° secolo per i Conti Voronstov, è stato per lungo tempo luogo prediletto dall'aristocrazia russa per fiabeschi balli e concerti tenuti nella Sala delle Colonne Bianche, la più grande della città (oltre 440 metri quadrati).

The Shuvalovsky Palace, which houses the museum, is one of the most perfect pearls in a magnificent necklace of St. Petersburg palaces. Constructed for Count and Countess Vorontsov in the 18 century, for centuries it has remained a location where the high society of St. Petersburg gathered for balls and concerts conducted in the largest hall of the city, the White Column Hall (440 square meters in area).
